A yearlong investigation of tire and rim thefts has resulted in the arrest of a 46-year-old man when Hillsborough County detectives found his truck with stolen items in the back.
Brian D. Dubien, 46, of 6650 Clair Shore Drive, Apollo Beach, is charged with grand theft, dealing in stolen property and violation of probation for aggravated battery. He is being held without bond.
For a year, Patrol District 4 detectives have been investigating tire and rim thefts that have been reported primarily in southern part of Hillsborough.
Detectives obtained enough evidence to get an arrest warrant for Dubien and on Wednesday, they set up surveillance on is home. Detectives found his truck parked outside with tires and rims in the rear bed, deputies said, and then pulled him over when he was driving away.
Detectives examined the items and determined that Dubien had stolen them just six hours earlier in the Rivercrest subdivision in Riverview.
DuBien was linked to 17 other tire and rim thefts in southern Hillsborough including those in Panther Trace, Rivercrest and FishHawk Ranch, the sheriff’s office said.
