Several Chick-fil-A restaurants in Pinellas County and New Port Richey will donate a percentage of sales tonight to a fund for Ireland Nugent, the Palm Harbor toddler injured in a mower accident. The fundraiser takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. In April, a riding mower severed both of Ireland's legs below the knee, also cutting her hand and breaking her thumb. The 2-year-old went home from Tampa General Hospital on Saturday after seven surgeries. She is expected to get prostheses in a few weeks. The family's church has started a fund at Wells Fargo bank to help. To contribute, call the church at (727) 446-6210, visit its website at www.trinityclearwater.org or write to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2001 Rainbow Drive, Clearwater FL 33765.
Several other charity events are in the works in the coming weeks and months. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ireland Nugent and her family as she recovers from this accident,” said Jane Melton, area marketing director for Tampa Bay Chick-fil-A restaurants. “We encourage the community to join us in support of their family as we raise funds for Ireland's recovery.” Thirteen Chick-fil-A restaurants are participating in tonight's fundraiser: Westfield Countryside mall, 27001 U.S. 19 N., Clearwater 2516 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd., Clearwater 3423 Ulmerton Road, Clearwater (Feather Sound) 26145 U.S. 19 N.
