TAMPA - You could treat dad to a moveable feast all day long with the assortment of Father's Day restaurant deals this Sunday. Or, if you're scrambling for things to keep the kids busy this summer, the Weedon Island Preserve has some ideas that are free. One involves owl pellets. And there are savings to be had this week if you shop the right places for Skechers kids shoes – the difference between $20 and $8 on some pairs, depending where you shop. These are some of the highlights from the first Free & Cheap roundtable, where the savings fly during a lively discussion among self-proclaimed cheapskates from News Channel 8, TBO.com and The Tampa Tribune.For some time now, the participants have been bragging around the water cooler about how much they just saved. Gayle Guyardo, co-host of the morning "News Channel 8 Today," leads the discussion. Some other highlights from today's roundtable: • Janine Dorsey of TBO notes that dads eat free at Tijuana Flats on Father's Day, but to get him free breakfast at IKEA you'll need to drive to Orlando. • The Tribune's Richard Mullins says if you miss the deals Sunday, don't fret: You can find free kids meals any weekend at many of the same eateries. • Debbie Swartz of News Channel 8 gets the best coupon deals on Skechers from JCPenney or Kohl's. Look for new shoes for the school year starting in July.
