Power outage hits USF area during spring finals
TAMPA - More than 3,700 people were without power this morning near the University of South Florida, affecting students taking spring finals. Power on campus began to be restored shortly before 11 a.m., according to The Oracle, USF’s student newspaper. Power at University Community Hospital also was out, according to media reports. Although power was out, USF journalism professor Rick Wilbur posted on his Facebook page that Wi-Fi connections remained intact, enabling his students to complete their exams.The TECO map also showed nearly 1,000 people without power this morning in the Westshore area, with full service expected to be restored by 2:15 p.m.
