TAMPA — Three years ago, World Pizza Champion Sean Brauser, opened his first Pizzafire restaurant in Akron, Ohio.
This month, the 23rd location will open near the University of South Florida, and there are 35 more slated to open in seven states by the end of the year. The Tampa Bay area can expect to see several more Pizzafire locations opening up soon.
Pizzafire offers freshly made and baked pizza in 180 seconds.
"We are a true, Neapolitan pizza," said Brauser, Founder & CEO. "It's a thin crust. We make the pizza right in front of you."
Diners choose from among six sauces, five cheeses, and 40 fresh toppings, and then it's fire-baked in a brick oven imported from Italy.
Brauser pointed out that Pizzafire offers fresh ingredients. Hydroponic basil is used in the sauce, and organic, hydroponic lettuce is used for salads. Imported flour from Italy and hand crushed tomatoes are used for the pizzas.
"There's no freezers, no fryers, no microwaves," Brauser said.
The menu also includes freshly made salads, bread sticks, and meatballs topped with authentic or spicy Neapolitan sauce.
Pizzafire is located at 2716 E Fowler Ave. It will be open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday- Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday & Saturday. For more information, call (813) 615-0810, or visit pizzafire.com.
