TAMPA — An Indianapolis-based home mortgage company will establish its regional headquarters in Clearwater and add 139 jobs, Gov. Rick Scott’s office announced.
Stonegate Mortgage Co. already has a regional operations center at 14255 49th Street North in Clearwater, as well as a branch office in Brandon, the company’s website says. It will expand its Clearwater office by turning it into a regional headquarters and hire an additional 139 people by the end of 2016.
The jobs are expected to pay at least 115 percent of the state’s average annual wage, or at least $47,500. Pinellas County and the state have offered the company an economic incentive potentially worth up to $695,000 through the state’s Qualified Target Industries tax refund program. If the company meets its job-creation goals, the state would pay up to $556,000 of that and Pinellas County would contribute the other $139,000.
“We have grown Stonegate by hiring real people who share our vision and core values, and are focused on the customer,” founder and Chief Executive Officer Jim Cutillo said in a prepared statement. “We believe Pinellas County offers us access to a workforce that will allow us to grow our culture and the ideal business climate to grow our operations.”
