Hulk Hogan opening restaurant at Tampa's Bay Harbor hotel
TAMPA - Hulk Hogan, in a continuing transition from wrestling icon to business owner, is opening an indoor-waterfront restaurant and bar at the Best Western Bay Harbor Hotel on Rocky Point. A grand opening for Hogan's Beach is scheduled for New Year's Eve. The 20,000-square-foot eatery, in what was known as Crabby Bill's, will feature outdoor entertainment, a mechanical shark ride, tiki bars, a giant video screen on the beach, a sushi bar, water sport rentals, and indoor and beachfront dance floors. Chef Robert Uzzillia, recently named among Restaurant Forum's "Annual Top Chefs," is developing the food and beverage menu, expected to include fresh seafood, beef and poultry.Largo investor Ben Mallah, a friend of Hogan's, bought the hotel, at 7700 Courtney Campbell Causeway, earlier this year. Hogan opened another business, Hogan's Beach Shop, on Clearwater Beach in October. The new businesses come in the wake of difficult year for Hogan after a sex tape showing him and the former wife of radio's Bubba the Love Sponge Clem was leaked to a website. Hogan filed suit against the website to have the video removed. Hogan's lawsuit against Clem has been resolved. The New Year's Eve's opening at Hogan's Beach will feature entertainment by King County and DJ Gemini. For information, call (813) 281-8900, e-mail [email protected] or go to hogansbeachtampa.com.
