Forty three percent of small businesses surveyed by the Florida Chamber of Commerce say their sales are higher than last year, according to the Chamber’s quarterly survey released this week, and 58 percent of small businesses expect the economy to improve over the next 12 months.

Among their top concerns, 24 percent cited economic uncertainty and 24 percent cited access to capital.

Just 9 percent cited government regulation as their top concern.

The survey focused squarely on small businesses, and 66 percent employ five or fewer employees.

Just 31 percent said they plan to hire more employees over the next six months.
