TAMPA — Two and a half months after its grand opening, the Epicurean Hotel is now fully open and has achieved a AAA Four Diamond rating, one of six Tampa hotels with that designation.
The luxury, boutique, food-themed hotel has all 137 rooms built out and ready for guests, a spokeswoman said.
The deluxe bakery on the ground floor, Chocolate Pi, opened on Valentine’s Day, and the luxury Spa Evangeline will open today.
The hotel was in a mad rush last December to open before New Year’s and Gasparilla, and largely did so, with about two dozen rooms available, and the gourmet restaurant Elevage open as well.
The overall project is a joint endeavor between the owners of the Bern’s Steak House restaurant across Howard Avenue from the hotel, and Mainsail Lodging & Development, a major Tampa-based developer and manager of hotel properties.
The Epicurean’s Four Diamond AAA rating will be added to AAA websites to join those properties that were evaluated last year for the 2014 designation.
The other Tampa hotels with a Four Diamond rating — the highest designation currently awarded to hotels in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties, and the dates they were first awarded are: Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay, 1982; InterContinental Tampa, 2008; Renaissance Tampa International Plaza Hotel, 2005; Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa, 2006; and The Westin Tampa Bay, 2009.
