TAMPA — ReliaQuest, a Tampa-based cybersecurity company, opened a "storefront" Wednesday at JA Biztown. The storefront is part of a mock city where students learn economic concepts and run businesses. About 20 real-life Tampa Bay companies sponsor storefronts that local students get to run for a day as part of a simulation.
The setup functions similar to Pinellas County's Enterprise Village, which also uses a collection of storefronts to simulate a city for the same purpose.
At ReliaQuest's storefront in Tampa, students helped other companies deal with alerts throughout the day that said their systems had "malware."
"We help people not have viruses," Gavin Freeman, 11, said. Freeman was the "CEO" of ReliaQuest during Wednesday's simulation.
The Tampa Bay Times has a storefront in JA Biztown.
