The nationís highest-paying jobs donít quite track with the fastest-growing jobs in Florida. According to a new study released today by California-based CareerCast, the highest-paying jobs are largely in the medical field and require post-graduate degrees.
"High-level health care professions offer some of the most substantial wages of any industry," said Kyle Kensing, CareerCast online content editor, in a release. "However, be prepared to make a substantial investment in your future if you plan to pursue one of these careers."
The highest-paying job is a surgeon, with a median salary of $409,665, followed by orthodontist at $208,000 and psychiatrist at $194,740. Those are a far cry from the three fastest-growing Florida jobs identified in a February study by California-headquartered Zippia: Statisticians, workers who reinforce iron and rebar as well as masons ó stone, brick, block ó and marble setters.
