TAMPA — The long saga of the now-defunct Savtira Corp. may be finally over. Timothy Roberts, former CEO of the once-Tampa Bay tech darling, was sentenced to six-and-a-half years in federal prison Friday.
Savtira was an online platform where companies would be able to operate their web stores and games.
The sentencing comes more than a year after his guilty plea last January to wire fraud. He and the company’s then-chief financial officer, Terrance Taylor, were accused of defrauding Savtira investors and lying about how investor money was being spent. They will be required to pay back about $5.8 million to the victims.
Taylor was sentenced to five years in prison in December after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
