Construction jobs in Tampa Bay area up 6%
TAMPA - Construction jobs in the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater area rose 6 percent to 55,500 in the 12 months ending March 31 compared with the year-ago period, a report by the Associated General Contractors of America said. That compares with a 2 percent gain in construction employment to 341,300 in Florida metropolitan areas. It was the fifth biggest percentage increase of 22 Florida regions. Nationwide, construction employment increased in 152 of 339 metropolitan areas for the 12-month period, declined in 126 and was stagnant in 61, the report stated.
