Pedestrian struck, not seriously hurt in downtown Tampa

A pedestrian was not serously hurt when struck by a vehicle in a key downtown Tampa intersection during the Friday morning’s rush hour.

The incident occurred about 7 a.m. on Kennedy Boulevard near Ashley Drive and Tampa Street.

The pedestrian, Jairo Alfonso Muneton, 58, sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Tampa police detoured traffic into downtown from the westbound Kennedy Boulevard bridge. The road was reopened sometime after 8 a.m.
