Pedestrian killed while crossing Courtney Campbell Causeway
An Apollo Beach pedestrian was killed Saturday night while crossing the Courtney Campbell Causeway. Tampa police say Lynne Novello, 46, was ahead of her husband and attempting to run across the causeway alone near Rocky Point Drive to the Westin hotel on Saturday night around 10:45 p.m. when she was struck by a westbound Ford Expedition driven by Matthew Miller, 56. Police say Novello began crossing mid-block into the oncoming lanes. Miller slammed on his brakes but could not avoid Novello, police say. He struck her at Bay Harbour Drive.Novello was pronounced dead at the scene, police say. Miller was not cited in the crash, police say. An investigation is ongoing.
