Palm Harbor motorcyclist dies in crash with SUV
A 28-year-old motorcyclist was killed Monday when he struck the back of an SUV on Belcher Road in Palm Harbor. About 5:50 p.m., Allison E. Kahn-Bens, 60, was northbound on Belcher Road approaching Hawk Avenue as Joshua Edgar Lane of Palm Harbor was approaching her quickly from behind on a motorcycle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Kahn-Bens of Tarpon Springs tried to slow down to avoid a collision, but the motorcycle hit the rear of her Ford SUV, FHP said. Lane's motorcycle then veered off, went onto the median, and struck two trees, before coming to rest in a southbound lane of Belcher. He died at the scene.Kahn-Bens suffered minor injuries and was taken to Mease Dunedin Hospital, the highway patrol said.
