Owners give up exotic pets
No dogs and cats here. Pythons, turtles, pygmy possums and other exotic pets were surrendered by owners who no longer wanted them during Exotic Pet Amnesty Day at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve in St. Petersburg on Saturday. The creatures were inspected by a veterinarian and were expected to be adopted by qualified new owners who have already submitted applications to show they know how to handle the animals. The day also featured educational displays and live animals on exhibit for those without pets to turn in.
