Residents will get the opportunity to hear the Florida Department of Transportation’s plans for major road improvements along Gandy Boulevard to ease east-west traffic flow in Pinellas County during an open house on Thursday.
The open house is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Epiphany of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church, 434 90th Ave. N.
While there will be no formal presentation, FDOT staff and other officials will be on hand to discuss the project.
FDOT contractor Condotte-deMoya JV began construction in February on the $83 million project, which includes transforming Gandy into an elevated six-lane roadway from Interstate 275 to west of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North, and four lanes from west of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street to east of Fourth Street North.
The project will include interchanges and frontage roads, officials say. Interchanges will be built at 94th Avenue, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North, Roosevelt Boulevard, and Fourth Street North.
Officials expect the project to be completed by the spring of 2017.
