A tractor-trailer carrying an oversized load Tuesday morning on Interstate 275 clipped an overpass, causing debris to fall and damaging a car driving behind it.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a flatbed tractor-trailer carrying a large crane was traveling southbound in the outside lane on I-275 around 9:30 a.m. when the crane struck the Kennedy Boulevard overpass.
The driver continued driving onto the Howard Frankland Bridge, although the crash caused concrete to fall on the southbound lanes of I-275, the FHP said.
Elizabeth McLaughlin, 56, of Tampa, driving behind the tractor-trailer, was not hurt but the undercarriage of her 2011 Mazda CX-7 was severely damaged from the debris in the roadway, the FHP said.
The outside southbound lane on I-275 is closed near the crash area, the FHP said.
Anyone with information on the driver of the tractor-trailer is asked to contact the FHP at 631-4020.
