TAMPA — Hillsborough County is once again accepting stray dogs at the N. Falkenburg Road animal shelter.
The shelter stopped taking dogs last week after a respiratory virus infected several dogs at the shelter.
Animal Services officials said dogs will be processed at the shelter at 440 N. Falkenburg Road, then transferred to SPCA Florida, which is helping Animal Services deal with the viral outbreak.
Animal Services officials say that while the shelter is accepting dogs, pet owners are encouraged to hold off on surrendering any dogs for another week if possible.
