Two Tampa middle school students charged with throwing acid bomb
Two Dowdell Middle School students were arrested today, charged with throwing an “acid bomb’’ during school this morning. The two seventh-grade boys – one is 15, one 13 – were charged with possession/discharge of a weapon school property and with disrupting a school function. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the acid bomb produced a “small explosion’’ on a school walkway between two buildings just after 9 a.m. The explosion happened during class change time. The school was temporarily placed on lockdown after the explosion, which caused no injuries or property damage.
