New Leader Tabbed For Air Mobility Command

Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel announced his pick today for the new head of Air Mobility Command, which oversees Air Force operations at MacDill Air Force Base.

Air Force Lt. Gen. Darren W. McDew, was nominated for appointment to the rank of general and for assignment as commander of Air Mobility Command, based at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. McDew is currently serving as commander, Eighteenth Air Force, Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.

If approved by the Senate, McDew would replace Gen. Paul Selva, who has been nominated to head U.S. Transportation Command.
