BayCare Health System is teaming up with Publix Pharmacy in and around Tampa Bay. In as soon as four months, BayCare services will be installed in Publix locations in Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties, while Publix pharmacies will open in five BayCare hospitals.
All 115 Tampa Bay area Publix locations will have screening stations for services such as blood pressure, and several will receive BayCare telehealth sites, the two organizations said Friday.
Telehealth sites allow patients to talk with a doctor via video chat in a private room. The doctor will walk the patient through how to use basic diagnostic equipment to help the doctor diagnose the patient. According to a joint release about the plans, telehealth appointment co-pays will cost about the same as in-person appointments.
Additionally, the following BayCare hospitals will eventually have Publix pharmacies on site: Tampa's St. Joseph's Hospital, Safety Harbor's Mease Countryside Hospital, Clearwater's Morton Plant Hospital, Winter Haven's Winter Haven Hospital and St. Petersburg's St. Anthony's Hospital.
Patients in all BayCare hospitals will also receive bedside prescription delivery at no cost. The plan is set to be finalized by the end of the year.
