Actor Jeff Bridges to appear in Tampa during RNC
Oscar-winning actor Jeff Bridges is coming to Tampa to take part in the IMPACT Film Festival, which will be held at Channelside Cinemas during the Republican National Convention from Aug. 27 to Aug. 29. Bridges, who narrated the documentary "Hunger Hits Home," will be appearing after a screening of the film at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 28. The film was produced in partnership with Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry Campaign, and takes a first-hand look at child hunger through the eyes of those affected by and engaged in the fight against child hunger. The non-partisan festival began in 2008 as a way to promote films dealing with social and political issues under the slogan "IMPACT Film Festival: Where Film Crosses the Aisle." After Tampa, the film festival will move on to the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C. "Well, I don't dig party lines, so I'm heading to both the Republican National Convention AND the Democratic National Convention to get people talking about an issue in our country that knows no party — childhood hunger," Bridges wrote in a blog post published on Share Our Strength's website.Other guests appearing after screenings at the festival include humorist Mo Rocca (Electoral Dysfunction, 10 a.m. Aug. 29), and Eugene Jarecki (The House I Live In , 2 p.m. Aug. 27). Tickets for the screenings are available at impactfilmfund.org.
