The Fresh Market has signed a lease to occupy a couple of storefronts next to Steinmart in the Lithia Crossings shopping plaza near Bloomingdale Avenue and Lithia-Pinecrest Road.
The new store here and one in the works in Naples will be the company's 34th and 35th stores in Florida.
"We are excited about our continued expansion in the South and in Florida, in particular," said Randy Kelley, the senior vice president of real estate and development for The Fresh Market.
The company signed a lease with Kite Realty, which handles tenants for the plaza, also home to Chili's, Panera Bread, Land and Sea market and Cork & Olive wine store. Officials for Kite Realty did not return calls for comment.
"We look forward to building on the success of our other Florida locations, where we have enjoyed a strong and loyal customer base" in Naples and Marco Island, Kelley said in a news release.
The grocery store chain built its reputation on its abundant produce and full-service meat counter. The stores include in-store bakeries and prepared foods.
The specialty grocery store chain operates 129 stores in 25 states.
