Time to connect Tampa, St. Pete downtowns

Now that both downtown Tampa and St. Pete are experiencing a renaissance, it’s time that we connect the two walkable destinations with a public ferry service. This will really put us on the map on the global stage.

Imagine the possibilities of shuttling between the urban hip downtown of Tampa to the suburban chic of St. Pete in about 30 minutes, riding a world-class water taxi on our magnificent bay. It’s surprising that we don’t have this service already and that we continue subjecting our visitors to the constant threat of traffic jams on our bridges.

Thanks to The St. Petersburg Tribune for keeping us up on the exciting developments in both downtowns. A ferry running from a resurrected Million Dollar Pier in St. Pete that has the vibe of Seattle’s Pike Place Market, connecting to a revamped and urban hip Channelside in Tampa, will help commuters and visitors alike.

Let’s do it!
