Letter of the Day

Put safety over politics

There has been a lot of media attention over the fact that the NSA was tracking telephone traffic of our fellow citizens in the USA. As expected, the ACLU rose up, talking about "personal privacy." I would expect this type of reaction from the ACLU. I would not expect it from members of the Republican party. I am not a Democrat, and I am not a President Obama supporter. But when it comes to my personal security and that of my family, I have to say, "Personal privacy be damned." There is no place in this discussion for politics. The lives of Americans depend upon current intelligence. If you are not plotting to harm America, you have nothing to worry about from the NSA or any other government agency trying to thwart those who wish us harm. Oh yes, I know; the ACLU and its fellow liberals would have you believe that the sanctify of your home and your bedroom will be used against you. Based upon the current administration's lack of a moral agenda - i.e., the IRS, AP and Benghazi - it is difficult to believe our privacy is under attack, but better that it is under attack by the despots in Washington than by al-Qaida. And to my fellow Republicans: Back off and put the safety of our citizens over politics. Ron Dakin
