My family and I volunteered last week for the National Veterans Wheelchair Games hosted by Tampa. We were very impressed by the athletes and so proud of our city for sponsoring this major sporting event.
The Motor Rally at Raymond James Stadium was a lot of fun and was made even better by the Bucs cheerleaders and the Gasparilla Pirates. The veterans seemed to love the rally, and they were warmly greeted at every station and covered with beads by the end.
The staff at James Haley VA Hospital should be commended for the tremendous amount of work they put into these games.
I was really proud of Tampa and proud of the veterans who competed.
