Letter of the day: A loss of faith in the Lightning

I wasn’t happy, but supported the Tampa Bay Lightning organization when Vinny Lecavalier was traded, and General Manager Steve Yzerman said his main duty was to improve the team and lead it to another Stanley Cup. However, he lost all credibility with his handling of Martin St. Louis and the Team Canada roster for this year’s Olympics. As a season ticket holder I could not care less about all of the accolades about his honesty, integrity and unbiased credibility in not picking St. Louis for the Olympic team. His primary responsibility is to do what’s best to help the Lightning, and there is no way you can construe that to mean alienating your team captain, your veteran leader and the glue that was not only leading and holding this team together after losing Steven Stamkos to injury, but leading by example to help mold the great young talent we have.

I will support Coach Jon Cooper and our players in every way to overcome this unnecessary situation. However, my confidence and belief in the dedication and honesty of our Lightning GM, the Lightning ownership and top management have been severely damaged.
