A shame for all of us
I was watching the Rays-Yankees game Monday night on ESPN. I wanted to get the national slant on the telecast as opposed to the usual local version. With a man on first, a Rays hitter hit a high pop-up that hit the catwalk above home plate. It was ruled a foul ball, thus out of play. If it had been deemed in fair territory, it would have been in play and a catch or no-catch would have counted. Rick Sutcliffe, the color man for ESPN, exclaimed, “What if this was the World Series and that would have happened?” What a shame! Folks, Tropicana Field is a shame for all of us. It is time to tear it down, build a new ballpark and put this one into history as a footnote to Tampa Bay’s entrance into the big leagues.
