‘Just enjoy what God has given us’

Q: Describe your garden.

Answer: We have many paved walkways; small gardens and some grass; a lot of ground cover, including ornamental peanut vine; an herb garden; and lots of butterfly plants and zinnias when in season. Plus a lot more.

Q: How long have you been gardening?

Answer: We’ve been gardening for years.

Q: From whom (or what) have you learned the most as a gardener?

Answer: We learned gardening through the Florida Extension office, trial and error, and from neighbors and friends.

Q: What are your go-to plants?

Answer: Azaleas, zinnias and butterfly weed (from seed); peanut vine; and lilies of many types. We love getting new plants. If we see something different, like coral plant, we do not hesitate to ask if we can have cuttings or seed pods.

Q: What was your biggest gardening mistake?

Answer: Trying to keep a yard full of grass.

Q: What are some challenges you face?

Answer: Watering and fertilizing everything and discovering what plants grow best in different areas of our yard.

Q: What is your best piece of advice for fellow gardeners?

Answer: Have fun! Share plants with friends. And just enjoy what God has given us.
