Tampa is getting a “new” city park and it's cause for celebration.
On Saturday, Aug. 16 the public is invited to gather from 5 to 9 p.m. at Water Works Park, 1710 N. Highland Ave., Tampa.
The free event will feature vendor food trucks, children's activities, entertainment, and more. Fireworks will begin at approximately 9 p.m.
The newly remodeled and restored park includes a ship-themed play area, water play splash pad, dog run and other amenities. The Tampa Riverwalk runs throughout the park along the Hillsborough River.
Eventually a kayak launch, boat slips and water taxi stop will be available for use.
A new restaurant, “Ulele” developed by the Columbia Restaurant Group, will open Aug. 26 at the site.
