State park admission waived for Literacy Day

September is International Literacy Month and Florida’s state parks are celebrating.

On Monday, Sept. 8 admission is waived at all Florida’s state parks for anyone who presents a library card, a borrowed library book or donates a new or gently-used book at any state park.

The state park system is requesting that the books be “family friendly” as they will be donated to needy schools and libraries at the conclusion of the promotion.

Unfortunately for Tampa Bay area residents, the Skyway Fishing Pier State Park is excluded from this offer.

In addition, various parks will be hosting special literacy events throughout the month with free admission and entertainment.

Events include visits from guest authors, book exchanges, story time, “Read with a Ranger,” and more.

Attendees are invited to present book donations or library cards to claim free admission at these events - unless otherwise noted - as well.
