K. Hovnanian marks 50 years with gift for buyers

When the news is filled with stories of down markets and a bad economy, it's good to hear about businesses that are doing more than just getting by. K. Hovnanian Homes is one of those businesses, company officials say. In fact, K. Hovnanian is celebrating 50 years of helping families build their dream homes. "We've weathered a bad economy four times before in our 50 years," says George Schulmeyer, president of K. Hovnanian's Tampa division. "And, just as before, we are able to achieve success during both the peaks and the down times. It truly shows the sustainability of our business." K. Hovnanian's connection to the Tampa Bay area stems from its 2003 acquisition of Windward Homes, a longtime builder in the area. The acquisition helped broaden K. Hovnanian's national reach to 18 states.
"We are committed to the Tampa Bay area and plan to be here a long, long time," he says. Schulmeyer attributes much of the company's success to its strong business plan and ability to partner with other businesses and industries to better serve its customers. One such example is its affiliation with Prudential Tropical Realty. "Many of our customers have homes to sell and our ability to connect them with a leading realty firm helps them tremendously," Schulmeyer says. To kickoff its yearlong 50th anniversary celebration, K. Hovnanian is hosting an event today that includes a chance to win tickets to the NFL's biggest game. "Anyone can register at any of our nine area communities. But hurry because [today] will be the last day to register," Schulmeyer says. In addition to the opportunity to win game tickets, K. Hovnanian is offering pricing specials on inventory homes and reduced interest rates. The company also is introducing 12 floor plans to mark its golden anniversary. "We spent nearly a year researching and conducting focus groups to determine what features home buyers want in their homes," Schulmeyer says. "These 12 new designs reflect those wishes." Schulmeyer says among the features home buyers are clamoring for is flexibility, such as multipurpose rooms, and spaces to hide backpacks and stuff families on the go need daily. "The bottom line is families want better value for their square footage, asking that the front of their homes look special and unique, while foregoing details inside they can add later, such as crown molding," he says. K. Hovnanian Homes was founded in 1959 and offers homes across the Bay area, including at Spring Ridge in Brooksville, The Reserve at Meadow Oaks in Hudson, LakeShore Ranch in Land O' Lakes, FishHawk Ranch-Garden District in Lithia, Lakeside Preserve in Parrish, South Fork in the Riverview area, Longleaf in Trinity, Highland Park in Westchase and Silverado Ranch in Zephyrhills. Designs that meet customer demands, great interest rates and a market that benefits buyers keep K. Hovnanian Homes going strong, Schulmeyer says. "There just isn't a better time to buy a new home," he says. "In fact, because of these great interest rates and the pricing of homes, it's cheaper to buy a new home now than it was in 2000," he says. Visit www.khov.com or call 1-877-669-5468 to learn about K.
