Keys won't issue visitor evacuation for Isaac
MIAMI — Officials in the Florida Keys say they won't issue a visitor evacuation. Based on reports from the National Hurricane Center that Isaac will remain a tropical storm as it passes through the Keys, officials announced today they won't issue an evacuation. Monroe County emergency management director Irene Toner says, however, the absence of a visitor evacuation should not be interpreted by visitors as an "all-clear." During the storm, Toner says visitors and residents must remain indoors. They should not be outside, on roadways, beaches and certainly not on, or in the water, until the storm is well away from the Keys. While there are no evacuations, officials are encouraging travelers with plans to visit the Keys soon to postpone trips until weather conditions improve, which is anticipated for Tuesday.
