We Tried It: G-360 Men's Weightlifting Gloves by G-Loves

Available at www.g-loves.com; $45 The pitch: "Good looking gloves that protect your hand while you train like a BEAST. ... G-loves (gloves) are innovative, of the highest quality, beautifully designed, and available in a wide range of colors and patterns. The skinny: I added weight-lifting to my workout routine about a year ago, and I love that it makes me feel so much stronger. But I didn't love the toll it was taking on my hands. Blisters turned to callouses that wouldn't go away. So I cut the fingers off an old pair of gardening gloves and pulled them on -- and it helped. A lot. But they were hard to get off when my hands were sweaty -- and they made my hands sweaty! Plus, they just weren't flexible enough.
Enter the G-Loves, which we actually got in a very masculine camouflage print for my husband to try. Lucky me: The men's medium gloves were too small for him, but they fit my hands perfectly. The hook and loop closure makes them easy to put on and take off, and they're much cooler and more comfortable than my amputated gardening gloves. I leave the G-Loves on through my whole workout -- and I love the grip and padding they offer when I'm lifting weights and doing pushups and chair dips. They'd also be great for Pilates or when I use my rowing machine. And, of course, they're much more attractive than my beat up old gardening gloves. The irony is that I ended up with the "GI Joe" model when G-Loves actually started out making pretty women's workout gloves that come in everything from a pink zebra print to a pair in black and red called "Queen of Hearts." Swoon. Unfortunately, these gloves are so sturdy, I doubt I'll ever need another pair. Kim Franke-Folstad
