‘Till I collapse’ chosen top workout song

What’s the ultimate workout song? There are lots of opinions, but officials from the national chain Gold’s Gym and Women’s Health and Men’s Health sought to identify the top pick.

And the winner was “Till I collapse” by Eminem featuring Nate Dogg.

The song was nominated by a gym member during a “battle of the sexes” style competition that pitted a slate of songs put up by men versus a slate nominated by women. The magazines and gym also solicited entries from fans and celebrities, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Will Ferrell, Trey Songz, Mickey Rourke and Brooke Shields.

There were 64 songs that made the final cut. They were put in tournament-style brackets for a head-to-head competition called March Music Madness.

The top pick by a woman was “Timber” by Pitbull featuring Ke$ha.

Other favorites chosen by women included “SexyBack” by Justin Timberlake featuring Timbaland, “Wake Me Up” by Avicii and “Talk Dirty to Me” by Jason DeRulo featuring 2 Chainz.

Favorites from the men also included “Enter Sandman” by Metallica, “Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns N’ Roses and “Shoot to Thrill” by AC/DC.

The nominator won $5,000 for Special Olympics.

“No matter what the workout, music and exercise go hand-in-hand,” said Jen Ator, Women’s Health fitness director, in a statement. “Research shows that listening to any music will keep you working out longer, harder and even put you in a better mood. The March Music Madness competition was a great way to find new songs to get your sweat on and give back at the same time.”
