Manatee couple won’t face marijuana charges
PARRISH - Manatee County prosecutors have declined to press charges against a 64-year-old man who cultivated marijuana plants to treat his wife's illness. Robert Jordan's home was raided by law enforcement in February after receiving a tip that there were two marijuana plants growing in their backyard. His wife, 62-year-old Cathy Jordan, has used marijuana for years to control the symptoms of Lou Gehrig's disease. The State Attorney's Office announced Tuesday that it believes a medical necessity defense would hold up in court. The couple has also asked state lawmakers in Tallahassee to pass a medical marijuana bill.
