Dr. Oz to give Tampa a '15 Minute Physical'
Stick out your tongue and say ahhh, Tampa. Mehmet Oz is about to tell us just how healthy we are. Oz — whose "Dr. Oz Show" airs weekdays on News Channel 8 and whose column runs weekly in 4you — will be in Tampa on Thursday to give the city a "15 Minute Physical." Oz will partner with Florida Hospital Tampa, Alere Inc. and the Practice Fusion electronic medical records company to give an estimated 1,000 pre-registered participants cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure and waist-measurement screenings. They'll analyze the results for averages, trends and other significant data points for the group and put together a "report card" on Tampa's health. Most participants will have a brief consultation with volunteer medical staff. A few giveaway winners and select cases will get to spend some time with Oz. The screenings will be held at Florida Hospital Pepin Heart Institute. All 1,000-plus slots already have been filled.Tribune staff
