Brooksville man tasered twice after resisting arrest, deputies say

Hernando deputies were forced to use a stun gun on a Brooksville man Saturday after he attacked a deputy who tried to arrest him, according to a report from the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

Bobby Allen Pilgrim, Jr., 31, faces charges of battery on a woman and a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal mischief.

Pilgrim was drinking with a woman and his boss at a bar around 11 p.m. when he got into an argument with the woman and she left him at the bar, according to the report. Pilgrim took a cab to the woman’s home in the 12000 block of Sunshine Grove Road in Brooksville and smashed two fish tanks and a glass table in her front yard, the report said.

When the woman confronted Pilgrim, he pushed her to the ground and Pilgrim’s boss was able to separate them, deputies said.

The woman called authorities and deputies found Pilgrim and his boss on the back porch of the home, the report said.

Deputies told Pilgrim to place his hands behind his back, but he refused and punched a deputy in the chest, according to the report.

The deputy grabbed Pilgrim’s left arm and tried to take him to the ground, but Pilgrim continued to swing both his arms, striking the deputy several more times in the chest, the report said.

The deputy tried again to take Pilgrim to the ground, but he resisted and a second deputy deployed his stun gun on Pilgrim, deputies said.

Pilgrim fell to the ground, but refused to put his hands behind his back and tried to get up, the report said. The deputy used the stun gun on Pilgrim again and he was taken into custody, deputies said.

While searching Pilgrim, deputies found a glass smoking pipe, which tested positive for marijuana, according to the report.

Pilgrim was taken to the Hernando County Detention Center where he was being held without bond.
