SPRING HILL — Hernando County detectives arrested a Spring Hill woman and two Brooksville men Wednesday on charges of conspiring to kill the woman’s husband, deputies said.
Jessy Fuston, 29, Nathan McKee, 30, and Antwon Walton, 25, face charges of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and were being held at the Hernando County Jail on $150,000 bail each, said Denise Moloney, spokeswoman for the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives recorded the suspects talking about how to slay Charley Fuston, 36, in exchange for money, Moloney said. After their arrests, the three suspects admitted their involvement, telling detectives that Jessy Fuston, who is four months pregnant, was afraid of her husband and wanted him dead, Moloney said. McKee is Jessy Fuston’s boyfriend, she said.
Throughout the investigation, Charley Fuston was kept informed of the plan, Moloney said.
Jessy Fuston told investigators that McKee would have Walton commit the murder with an AK-47 assault rifle with a silencer and that proof of the crime could be provided by photographs or with a body part, an arrest affidavit states.
Jessy Fuston, McKee and Walton each resided at 16223 Fullington Road, Brooksville, records show.
The crime was to be committed after the Fustons’ next scheduled child custody exchange, scheduled for today, the affidavit says.
On May 30, Walton accompanied Jessy Fuston to the most recent custody exchange to see what Charley Fuston looked like, records state.
Charley Fuston told investigators that he noticed Walton staring at him during the exchange.
On Wednesday, Jessy Fuston, McKee and Walton met at 16314 Cortez Blvd. to further discuss the plan, records state. During that meeting, a small amount of cash was provided as partial payment for the crime, records show.
McKee told detectives that the murder plot was Jessy Fuston’s idea and he admitted to paying Walton, who said after his arrest that he got worried when he was not paid in full, records state.
Charley Fuston declined to comment on the case Thursday afternoon. He appeared to be working on a lawn mower at his home off Spring Hill Drive.
McKee was arrested and charged with knowingly driving on a suspended license in May, records show. Neither Jessy Fuston nor Walton had prior arrests in Hernando, sheriff’s records indicate.
Charley Fuston was arrested in November on charges of aggravated stalking and violating probation, sheriff’s records show. The stalking charge pertained to Jessy Fuston, and Charley Fuston was found not guilty of the charges on May 27, court records indicate.
Attorney Scott Finelli of Kemp and Ruge Law group, with offices in Spring Hill and Trinity, represented Jessy Fuston during the domestic violence case, but is no longer her attorney, his office said.
