Seymour redefines ‘a brush with fame’

Actress Jane Seymour returns to Safety Harbor on Saturday and Sunday to kick off a new exhibit of her works at the Syd Entel Galleries on Main Street.

The former star of “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” and numerous films had a successful showing of her paintings here last year. This time it will be a “mother and son” exhibit, also featuring the works of her photographer son, Sean M. Flynn.

The 62-year-old English-born actress started making efforts to become a serious artist more than a decade ago. She has since become successful, with nationwide showings of her oil and watercolor paintings as well as her bronze sculptures. She also designs jewelry and writes inspirational books. She continues to act. Recent appearances include the Hallmark Channel movie “Lake Effects” and the comedy “Lovestruck: The Musical.”

Flynn’s photos feature everything from landscapes and still life to exotic locales and portraits of rockers such as Incubus. Seymour’s paintings focus on the things that soothe her: flowers, gardens, oceans and the relationship between children and mothers.

The public can meet Seymour at two artist appearances at Syd Entel Galleries: 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. See www.sydentelgalleries.com or call (727) 725-1808 to RSVP.
