The Sunset Music Festival has added another electronic dance music superstar to the already-stacked lineup of DJs coming to Raymond James Stadium over the Memorial Day weekend.
DJ and producer Paul Van Dyk will headline the festival’s trance stage, the festival’s promoters have announced.
Sometimes referred to by fans as the “father of trance,” Van Dyk was one of the first DJs to achieve worldwide fame as the trance genre’s popularity exploded in the 1990s.
Van Dyk’s album “Reflections” was nominated for a Grammy in 2004 — the year the awards added a Best Electronic/Dance Album category.
The festival also announced the Regional Support Acts who will be playing, including several Tampa Bay area-based artists. They include Nerd Rage, John Anthony, DOCO, BASOMATIC, Dan Winta, Mr. Saturn, Tommy Rize, Pat O’Brien and DOSVEC.
Those acts will be joining headliners Zedd, Hardwell and dozens of others at the festival, which runs from May 24 to 26.
Multi-day passes are currently on sale at smftampa.com. The promoters have not announced plans for single-day tickets.
