So you didn't snag tickets to see LSU take on Iowa in the Outback Bowl at Raymond James Stadium on New Year's Day? Don't worry, there's still several opportunities to get in on the fun that comes along with having a bowl game in Tampa, and many of them are free.
Beach Day, Today - Join the teams, their marching bands and cheerleaders as they enjoy the sun and sand at the Hilton Clearwater Beach. The free event has sand sculptures, live bands, skydivers, a tug-of-war, pie eating, trivia and other competitions from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Stick around afterward for the nearby Sunsets at Pier 60 festival.
Battle of the Bands, Tuesday - Join the LSU and Iowa marching bands at Busch Gardens as they square-off for a special “Battle of the Bands” performance. Paid admission to the theme park is required.
New Year's Parade and Pep Rally, Tuesday - The holiday season comes to a close in Ybor City with a parade down 7th Avenue featuring floats, 15 marching bands, cheerleaders and a “battle of the bands” between LSU and Iowa's marching bands. The parade starts at 5:30 p.m. Pep rally festivities are centered around the Ybor Centro complex.
Pre Game Bowl Bash, Wednesday - Fans can gather on the south plaza outside Raymond James Stadium where there will be live music, a pep rally, sponsor displays and food and drinks available to purchase in the hours before the 1 p.m. kickoff. The surrounding lots will open for tailgating at 9:30 a.m.
