Meteorologist Gialanella No Longer With WFTS-TV
TAMPA - Meteorologist Linda Gialanella is no longer employed by WFTS, Channel 28. She left the station Friday after her contract ended, WFTS general manager Rich Pegram said. Gialanella had been the weekend weather forecaster for WFTS from 2003 to 2008 until meteorologist Wayne Shattuck was moved from weekday mornings to weekends. For the past year, Gialanella has been a backup meteorologist and occasional general assignment reporter. She also appeared on the station's Web site and 24-hour digital weather channel."We are not eliminating a position here," Pegram said. "We moved Wayne Shattuck to the weekends and honored her contract until it ended." Gialanella had worked at WTSP, Channel 10, for years before joining WFTS. She worked occasionally for Bay News 9 before settling going to WFTS. Prior to that, she worked at WNEW (now WNYW) and WABC in New York and KYW in Philadelphia.
