Add two more musical hitmakers to the growing list of stars on Tampa’s concert calendar in 2014.
Pop music sweetheart Katy Perry and feel-good country partyer Luke Bryan both announced major North American tours this week, and both are stopping locally.
Perry’s “Prismatic” tour will bring the colorful, top 40 stalwart to the Forum on June 30, while Bryan’s “My Kind of Night Tour” brings one of country’s fastest-rising touring acts back to the MidFlorida Amphitheatre on Sept. 26.
Capital Cities, Tegan and Sara, and Kacey Musgraves will alternate opening for Perry in different cities on the four-month tour. Who the opener will be for Tampa hasn’t been announced yet.
Perry hasn’t played Tampa since her “California Dreams” tour stopped at the Forum in 2011.
Bryan sold out two concerts on back-to-back nights at the MidFlorida Amphitheatre in 2013.
Lee Brice and Cole Swindell will open for Bryan when he returns in September.
Ticket prices and on-sale dates for Bryan’s show have yet to be determined.
Perry and Bryan join a busy week for tour announcements.
On Tuesday, Dave Matthews Band announced a July 16 stop at the MidFlorida Amphitheatre. On Wednesday, Live Nation announced that Outkast, Vampire Weekend and Foster the People would headline the three-day Big Guava Music Festival at the amphitheater and Florida State Fairgrounds in May.
