The “Cops” theme song warns “bad boys” about messing with the law, but the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office was apparently looking for bad girls too on an upcoming episode of the long-running reality series.
The episode airs at 8 p.m. Saturday on SpikeTV and shows Hillsborough deputies working an undercover sting on an alleged prostitute, and arresting a man on charges of soliciting prostitution.
The episode is titled “Hands Off the Junk,” and the segment featuring the Hillsborough deputies is titled “Prostitution Solution,” sheriff’s spokesperson Melissa Kincheloe said, adding “they come up with the catchy names, we don’t.”
The episode was filmed as producers followed deputies over a period of eight weeks ending in September 2013, Kincheloe said.
The sheriff’s office has a long history with the show, which debuted on FOX in 1989.
Sheriff’s spokesperson Debbie Carter said the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office was the second agency to ever be featured on the show, and “Cops” has returned to film in Hillsborough County about every other year since then.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office was the first agency featured on the show, Carter said.
