Some of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers cheerleaders are startled by a scare actor during the 2012 Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream. The theme park is holding auditions for scare actors for this year's event. BUSCH GARDENS
If you're willing to wear makeup and enthusiastically terrify theme park guests until the wee hours of the morning, Busch Gardens wants you. The Tampa attraction will hold open auditions Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. for scare actors to work during the park's annual Howl-O-Scream event. Potential performers will be rated on their scare tactics as they try out drop-doors, perform overhead startles and other gotcha gimmicks on a “scare gauntlet.” A series of improvised group games will encourage those auditioning to transform their bodies, voices and movements from human to terrifying. No experience is necessary and the auditions are open to anyone at least 18 years old who can work from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. on event nights.
Those interested in auditioning have to apply first at careers.seaworldparks.com. Howl-O-Scream runs from Sept. 27 through Oct. 26. The official job title of Howl-O-Scream Entertainer II pays $9.09 per hour, according to the Busch Gardens careers website. More information is available at www.buschgardenstalent.com.
