Backstreet Boys' tour coming to Tampa on Aug. 23
Backstreet's back, all right.
The Backstreet Boys, the mega-successful boy band of the 1990s, will perform in Tampa on Aug. 23 at the Live Nation Amphitheatre.
The “In a World Like This” tour, which kicks off Aug. 2 in Chicago, marks the 20th anniversary of the group, which formed in Orlando in 1993.
Tickets, at $29, $39 and $69, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at www.livenation.com, the box office and Ticketmaster outlets.
DJ Paul D of MTV's “Jersey Shore” fame and singer-songwriter and actor Jesse McCartney will open.
The Backstreet Boys have sold more than 130 million records worldwide and continue to tour with all five original members: A.J. McLean, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell. Richardson took a hiatus from the band to pursue other interests but returned in 2012.
Carter said the group has an album coming out, its first in seven years.
Hits from the band's '90s heyday include “Everybody (Backstreet's Back),” “I Want It That Way,” “Larger Than Life,” and “Quit Playing Games (With My Heart).”
