The popular Summer of Rum Festival is returning to Tampa for a second year, this time in Ybor City.
The festival, which drew a sold-out crowd of 4,000 to The Heights Waterfront last summer, will move to the Cuban Club on Aug. 16 to coincide with National Rum Day, organizers announced.
The event will take over all three floors of the Cuban Club, with an “island party” in the third-floor ballroom, a “pirates cove” in the second floor lobby and theater, and a “mojito lounge” in the ground floor cantina.
The Cuban Club’s newly-expanded outdoor concert area will have an island main street theme, with vendors, street performers and “rum shacks” serving a variety of rum drinks with live reggae, ska, calypso and soca music.
Organizers plan to announce a musical headliner soon, Big City Events said.
General admission tickets will be $15, with VIP tickets starting at $75 through summerofrumfest.com.
